Insertion Parameters for Sliplining Applications

Fusible C-900®, Fusible C-905®, FPVC® and Duraliner™ starting stock can be fused above ground and inserted into the host pipe in one continuous length. Care must be taken not to exceed the recommended bending radius of the starting stock. The table presented here specifies the appropriate pit length at various host pipe depths.

In order to determine an approximate pit length, the following parameters must be known:

  1. The depth in feet of the existing host pipe to be sliplined.
  2. The nominal diameter of the starting stock in inches (this table is for DIPS sizing only).

Find the nominal diameter of the starting stock on the left-hand side of the table, with its corresponding recommended bending radius. Reference this pipe size with the depth to host pipe to determine an approximate pit length required for the sliplining insertion.

Please contact a UGSI representative if you have difficulty referencing an approximate pit length for a proposed project, or if you would like calculations for different types of Fusible PVC™. Pit length approximations are not exact. For a more accurate, project specific estimate, or for more information on sliplining and other trenchless applications, contact your local UGSI regional sales manager or sales engineer.

Insertion Parameters for Horizontal Directional Drilling Applications

Insertion parameters for Horizontal Directional Drilling applications should be calculated on a project by project basis. In general, a ratio of 4:1 - 5:1 (Length vs. Depth) can be used as a preliminary estimate for pit dimensions, subject to final calculations once the specific parameters of the project are known. Please contact a UGSI regional sales representative for assistance with more accurate, project specific estimates.
