City of Santa Rosa, CA Installs Fusible C-905® Pipe for 4,680 LF Slipline Rehab Project

In January 2008, Underground Solutions, Inc. (UGSI) was selected by Pipeline Excavators to supply Fusible C-905® pipe and fusion services for the slipline rehabilitation of an 18" steel water line in the City of Santa Rosa, CA. A new 14" DR18 Fusible C-905® pipe with a 235 psi pressure rating was inserted into the existing host pipe. Sliplining was completed in seven separate pull-ins, with the longest pull-in measuring 1,300 LF.

The City's design called for Fusible C-905® pipe or HDPE. On bid day, seven of eight bidding contractors listed Fusible C-905® pipe in their bids, all indicating total installed cost savings versus HDPE. By installing Fusible C-905® pipe, the City obtained 26% more flow area versus HDPE while maintaining a maximum OD of 15.3" inside the host pipe. As an added benefit to the City, the installation utilized standard MJ fittings, valves, and MEGALUG connection hardware.
