Underground Solutions awarded San Francisco Airport Project: Fusible C-900® Installed as Part of Taxi Way Expansion
In December 2006, Underground Solutions (UGSI) was contracted by JMB Construction to provide UGSI's Fusible C-900® pipe and fusion services for a new potable water line to be installed at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The new water line was placed in aggressive soil and groundwater conditions. UGSI completed the work in January 2007.

UGSI's Fusible C-900® pipe was selected for its ability to provide SFO with C900 PVC pipe with the added benefit of being a monolithic, gasketless, leak free, fully restrained pipe system. Fusible C-900® allowed for significant reduction in required fittings, restraining collars, cathodic protection and associated installation labor that would have otherwise been required due to the aggressive nature of the soil and groundwater conditions. Additionally, the potential presence of petroleum hydrocarbons made Fusible C-900® the best choice because of its resistance to hydrocarbon permeation and pipe wall degradation versus other thermoplastic pipe materials.
SFO welcomed the use of Fusible C-900® due to their successful experience with PVC C900 in prior installations. For additional project information, please contact Rob Craw.
